Warranty Overview
At Boat Engine Hub, we are committed to providing you with high-quality marine engines and parts, backed by transparent and fair policies. Your satisfaction and peace of mind on the water are our top priorities. Please review our detailed warranty and return policy below.
New Engine Warranty Policy
All new outboard and inboard engines purchased from Boat Engine Hub are covered by the original manufacturer’s limited warranty. These warranties are directly provided and administered by the respective manufacturers (e.g., Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Mercury, etc.).
Key Aspects of New Engine Warranties:
- Duration: Warranty periods vary by manufacturer and engine model, typically ranging from 3 to 5 years for recreational use. Commercial use often entails a shorter warranty period (e.g., 1 to 3 years or specific hour limits).
- Coverage: Generally covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and maintenance. This includes parts and labor for covered repairs performed by an authorized service dealer.
- Registration: It is often a requirement to register your new engine with the manufacturer shortly after purchase to activate and validate your warranty. Our team can assist you with this process.
- Maintenance Requirements: To maintain warranty validity, it is crucial to adhere strictly to the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule, performed by a certified marine technician, and keep accurate service records.
- Claim Process: Should you experience a manufacturing defect, you must contact an authorized service dealer for the specific engine brand. They will diagnose the issue and facilitate the warranty claim directly with the manufacturer. Proof of purchase and maintenance records will be required.
Common Warranty Exclusions (Vary by Manufacturer):
- Damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect, accident, or improper operation.
- Damage from improper installation, unauthorized modifications, or repairs not performed by authorized dealers.
- Normal wear and tear items (e.g., spark plugs, filters, impellers, belts, hoses, anodes, fuses, lubricants).
- Damage due to inadequate maintenance or failure to follow the owner’s manual.
- Damage from using incorrect fuel, lubricants, or fluids.
- Engines used in racing or competitive events.
- Corrosion or damage caused by environmental factors (e.g., saltwater exposure without proper flushing).
- Incidental or consequential damages (e.g., loss of use, transportation costs, towing, storage, inconvenience).
Used & Certified Pre-Owned Engine Warranty Policy
Used engines purchased from Boat Engine Hub come with varying warranty coverages based on their condition and whether they are “Certified Pre-Owned.”
- Standard Used Engines: Unless explicitly stated otherwise on the product page, standard used engines are sold “AS IS.” We recommend a thorough inspection prior to purchase.
- Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Engines: Our CPO engines undergo a rigorous multi-point inspection and reconditioning process by our certified technicians. These engines may include a limited warranty provided by Boat Engine Hub for a specific period (e.g., 30-90 days or a set number of hours) covering major internal components.
For any warranty claims on CPO engines, please contact Boat Engine Hub customer service directly.
Parts & Accessories Warranty Policy
Most new parts and accessories sold by Boat Engine Hub are covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty, typically for one (1) year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. Specific warranty terms for individual parts can be found in the product documentation or on the manufacturer’s website.
